Hour of Code 2021

ACM Student Chapter Maribor participated in this year’s Hour of Code event. Several members of our chapter volunteered to perform workshops in local school around the City Municipality of Maribor. We made a total of 2 workshops aimed towards the primary school students aged 11-13 years. A brief description of all workshops is attached bellow:

• November 9th, 2021, at 13:05, Primary school Podbočje (Podbočje 82, 8312 Podbočje) – 8th grade students learned how to make their first web site using HTML programming language. Students learned how to use HTML tags for programming their web site. Students became acquainted with HTML tags for text formatting, image insertion and hyperlinks. During the workshop, the students created their own webpage containing information about their favorite sport. Students created their first web site, that conained two HTML documents and some pictures.

• December 14th, 2021, at 13:05, Primary school Podbočje (Podbočje 82, 8312 Podbočje) – 8th grade students during this workshop enhanced their skills acquired at the 1st workshop by learning about styling the web pages using the CSS language. They learned how to use a stylesheet; how to include it in their webpage. The students updated their web page with new HTML tags intended for stylesheets. They modified the color schema in the stylesheet. At the end of the workshop, they published their results on a web server.
